Group Strength and Balance Classes
For those of you who attended last term we will continue to progress and explore different options to improve strength and balance. The classes will run at the Studio and will include some activities outdoors, when the weather allows. This will give you more take-home ideas so that you can vary your home exercise routine. Being outdoors also enables us to challenge balance more, for example, walking on uneven ground, or stepping up and over obstacles. Modifications provided for exercises will mean that this class will be suitable for those people wishing to begin strength and balance training, as well as anyone with previous experience.
Strength training is a great idea for management of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, before and after surgery (to build strength prior to surgery or as post-op rehabilitation), if you are less active than you should be and need some guidance, following inactivity for any reason, and especially if your doctor has advised you to begin exercising.
Exercises that challenge your balance are recommended for many people, especially if you wish to prevent a fall, sense that your balance is declining for any reason, or have osteoporosis.
With the small group supportive environment and expert advice from Jenny, an enjoyable program can be developed that suits your needs.
